Christmas in Padstow

The Padstow Christmas Festival runs again this year between 7th and 10th December. Dale will be taking to the stage during the festival alongside peers such as Michael Caines, Angela Hartnett, Rick Stein, Nathan Outlaw, Paul Ainsworth and Tom Kerridge. An event too good to be missed. Stage time still to be announced.

Crack open the Oysters

Dale will officially launch the 21st Falmouth Oyster Festival this year. At 11am on Thursday 12th October, Dale will open the festival with a demonstration of his award winning food design skills using Falmouth dredged oysters and the day's catch.

This week Dale has been on our TV screens competing in this years BBC Masterchef: The Professionals, tune in on BBC to see Dale in the quarter finals, see here for more information.

Down at the beach

After 3 years at Merchants Manor, Dale has made the small trip down the road to front the team at Gylly beach cafe. With plans to introduce fine dining in the evenings and event nights, keep your ears to the ground for updates.

2 Years Running

Dale was again a finalist of the South West Chef of the Year 2015 at Exeter College, dazzling the judges with a carefully created menu from all local produce, only finding out on the morning of the final what ingredients he would have to be working with. To be a finalist is a fantastic, to be there 2 years running is outstanding.

Big Update

In the last few months Dale has been very busy making his sixth appearance at the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival, showcasing his dish that he has featured in the Cornish Fish Book. Completed a demo at the Boscastle festival and wowed the judges to get to the final of the South West Chef of the Year for the second year running, which is just round the corner on 29/10/15. Good luck Dale, we'll all be rooting for you!

Food Reader Awards

The Merchants Manor have been nominated as a contender for 'Best Foodie Hotel' in the 2015 Food Magazine Reader Awards. If you are a fan of the hotel dining, please take the time and cast your vote here.

South West Chef of the Year

Over the last few months Dale has been working hard competing in the South West Chef of the Year 2014 competition, spending time perfecting his dishes and then being under the pressure to recreate them when the time mattered. Dale won his semi final and became the only Cornish representative in the final. The final bore new challenges as Dale did not know the ingredients he would have to cook with until he arrived at Exeter University on the day. Although he didn't manage to come away with the award, just to get to the final of such a prestigious competition is a massive achievement. A great write up about the semi final and the competition can be found on the Merchants Manor's blog here and here respectively. It's fair to say everyone involved with the Merchants Manor is beyond proud of his success.

Exciting times

We are excited to announce that Dale is in negtotiations to become a full working partner in The Merchants Manor, and delighted to confirm that Dale has taken on the role of Chef Patron.
